Surgery - Recovery Room

Immediately after the operation you will be moved to the recovery room for close monitoring.

When you wake up after the surgery your leg may be swollen and bruised and the muscles may be stiff and sore. Your new joint should not cause you any discomfort, but you may experience some pain from the surgical procedure itself. You will be given pain medication to take regularly whilst you are recovering, if this is required.

You will be transferred back to the orthopaedic ward when you are awake and your pain is controlled. This may be an hour or more after surgery.
